Further to our telephone conversation today, please note

Where a protection applicant who resides in an IPAS accommodation centre loses their employment due to the Covid-19, they do not qualify for the pandemic unemployment payment as they are in receipt of a different DEASP payment i.e. the Daily Expenses Allowance.  In this situation, the persons needs are met through the services provided by the accommodation centre (accommodation, food, etc.) and the DEASP daily expenses allowance payment. The DEA payment will continue and isn’t means tested.

Where a protection applicant (age 18 – 66) living in the community (i.e. living outside Direct Provision Centres) has lost their employment and the employer is unable to pay, then they would be eligible to receive the Covid Pandemic Unemployment Payment. (Claim form here-/>)

I trust that this clarifies the position.

Kind regards,
