Who Will be Tested for Corona Virus

26/3/2020

Firstly Remember the following:
  1. Follow all the health advice to prevent yourself from getting the virus or from you passing it on to others. If you do get it there is no blame associated with this so DO NOT HIDE IT.
  2. If you think you are ill - immediately tell centre mamangement & start to stay away from others in the centre, including other family members where possible.
  3. Testing is NOT a part of your treatment. Testing is a means by which Public Health Officials can track the progress of the virus and work to stop it. If there are delays in getting you tested or in receiving results, this will NOT effect your treatment. Once you think you are ill, work with Centre management for self-isolation and contacting a doctor. If you are very ill, you will be taken into hospital and treated appropriately.
Not being tested or no results will NOT STOP YOUR TREATMENT.

     4.  The HSE rules for testing are as follows:
  • You should call your GP to be assessed for a test if you have a fever (high temperature - 38 degrees Celsius or above) or chills and one of the following symptoms:
  • a cough - this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
  • shortness of breath
  • If you are in one of the priority groups and they think that you need to be tested, they will arrange a test for you.
  • You will need to self-isolate while you wait for your test. The people in your household will need to restrict their movements.
  • Phone your GP. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. The GP will assess you over the phone.
  • Make sure your GP has the correct mobile number for you. This is so we can contact you by text message with your test details.
  • If you do not have a GP, any GP can arrange a test for you.
  • Do not ring GP out-of-hours services. They cannot arrange testing.
  • HSELive cannot order coronavirus tests. It is an information line only.
