You are invited to celebrate the launch of a new Know Your Rights Guide by the Irish Council of Civil Liberties and Irish Refugee Council at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission on Monday 28 November, 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The Know Your Rights Guide for International Protection Applicants is designed to ensure accessible, detailed and reliable information is widely available to everyone who needs it.
This new guide provides information about rights and procedures within the international protection application process, as well as information about a wide range of economic, social, civil and political rights that everyone in Ireland has, with a focus on those that are pertinent to the lives and aspirations of applicants.
It is an invaluable compendium of rights for people in Ireland as international protection applicants, who often struggle to locate the information they need and verify its reliability.
The Guide has been developed with the input of international protection applicants, and with the support of a wide range of refugee, asylum seeker and migrant support organisations as well as other rights and advice organisations.
The new Guide is the 8th in the ICCL Know Your Rights Series - https://www.iccl.ie/your-rights/
The Guide was funded by the IHREC Grants Programme.
You are invited to celebrate the launch of the Guide, meet the authors and partners in the Guide, and join us in a discussion of how the Guide can help to address the information needs of international protection applicants across Ireland.
Speakers on the day include: IHREC Chief Commissioner Sinead Gibney, Doireann Ansbro, Head of Policy & Legal, Irish Council of Civil Liberties, Nick Henderson, CEO, Irish Refugee Council, Maureen Nalubega, Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland (MASI), and Dr Niloufar Omidi and Dr Lucy Michael (Lead authors of the Guide).
Refreshments will be provided.
